Andrew caught the “wine bug” early on in his twenty-plus year career as a chef. As his cooking career took him to far off and exotic locales, several chapters introduced him to some of the great wine producing regions of the world.
Wanting to settle down after his wanderlust wore off, Andrew finally made it back home to the west coast, settling in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. For over five years Andrew has managed the Ponzi Wine Bar, a local tasting room and retail outlet to premium Northwest wine producers. From well known brands, to producers making less than 200 cases per year, Andrew has developed close relationships with nearly every single wine producer in the Willamette Valley and beyond. In the Spring of 2008, Andrew was invited to act as a judge for the fourth annual Portland Indie Wine Festival, which showcases Oregon’s top 40 artisanal wineries.
Andrew’s philosophy on wine is that it should be approachable to everyone and that good food, laughter and fun should always be a part of the equation!
