A special tasting a Domaine Drouhin Oregon!

We finally got a chance to see the newly remodeled Domaine Drouhin tasting room! I was the first to arrive and was greeted by Arron Bell, the Assistant Wine Maker of DDO (Domaine Drouhin Oregon.) The tour was for both the Ponzi Wine Bar staff and the Dundee Bistro (adjoining restaurant.) Arron was impressed at the timeliness of our group saying, “Usually gathering together a restaurant staff is like trying to heard cats.” Our promptness I’m sure was spurred on by our enthusiasm to taste the wines.

The tasting began with the Edition Limitée Rose that shimmered in our glasses as we stood in the vineyard. If only the whole tasting could have been in the sunshine! The barrel room was calling us and we had a chance to taste a few “wines in progress.” It’s always so amazing to me to taste where a wine begins and increases my appreciation of the finished project even more!

Back at ground level, we were tasted on a few of the French Drouhin’s wines to compare and admire along side the Oregon Drouhin wines. I didn’t realize that they offered this Old World\New World flight. In addition to fine wine the tasting room currently features a sneak peak into a baby birds nest that can be spied in a short shrub through the window. A heart-felt thank you to Arron and the staff of DDO for hosting us and escalating our knowledge and love for Oregon wine country. I highly recommend this stop to anyone looking for a fantastic grounds, breath-taking views, and tongue tingling wines!
