Memorial Day Weekend!

Memorial Day Weekend this year was a highly anticipated one for the staff as well as the public, and did not disappoint! Dick and Nancy Ponzi delighted us with a re-release of just two cases of the 2005 Il Luce Ponzi pinot noir! This highly coveted wine was originally released in 2007 and sold out in record time. Luisa made only two barrels of this gorgeous pinot noir and it joined the 2005 vintage as one of only 4 single vineyard pinots in Ponzi Vineyards history. Talk about a treat! If you’re lucky, we may still have some available for you to take home.

Memorial Day Weekend also brought about the release of our much anticipated 2009 Ponzi Arneis. This wine is as beautiful as ever and is now only available at the Ponzi Wine Bar and Ponzi Estate Winery! Be sure to contact us so we can reserve some for you today!

On top of the fabulous selection of Ponzi wines featured on Memorial Day Weekend, we were honored to have the company of two of the Willamette Valley’s primeir winemakers pouring side-by-side with us; Don Lange of Domaine Trouvere, a second label of Lange Estate Winery, and Jimmy Maresh of Arterberry Maresh wines. What a line-up!

Don was featuring his 2007 Domaine Trouvere Chardonnay, 2005 Domaine Trouvere pinot noir, and 2007 Domaine Trouvere Temperanillo. For his Domaine Trouvere wines, Don likes to focus on small lots of vineyard specific wines allowing him to express the terrior to its fullest. His style and love of winemaking is classic and one that shouldn’t be missed!

Jimmy Maresh brought his 2007 Dundee Hills pinot noir and his smallest and newest release, the 2008 Juliard Vineyard pinot noir. Having grown up along side his grandfather making wine in the Dundee Hills, Jimmy knows the true experession of the unique soils found in this part of the valley. His 2007 Dundee Hills pinot noir follows classic burgundian style spending time in only neutral oak barrels and showcasing grogeous, bright red fruit. The Juliard Vineyard has been typically seen in Erath’s single vineyard pinot line-up, but this year Jimmy was alloted a small amount of fruit and he ran with it. This wine is one to remember!

Although the sunshine made only a minimal apperance, smiles and great wine were in abundance at the wine bar on Memorial Day Weekend. As was expected, this weekend proved to be one of the best of the year!
