2007 PONZI VINEYARDS PINOT NOIR
This past week, Robert Parker’s the Wine Advocate chose our signature Pinot Noir as his pick of the day. He wrote, “The 2007 Pinot Noir Willamette Valley is deep crimson-colored with an enticing bouquet of toasty oak, cinnamon, allspice, violets, and black cherry. Medium-bodied and elegant on the palate, it has plenty of savory fruit, enough ripe tannin to evolve for 1-2 years, and a silky finish. This tasty effort will deliver pleasure through 2017.” 90 Points
As is often the case with this wine (and in particular the 2007 vintage), it takes a bit of time to come together and really start to hit its stride. Boy is it ever! This was Wine Advocate reviewer Jay Miller’s impression last fall It’s that and a whole lot more now! The best part is that we’re offering this wine at a special price as a thank you to our loyal customers for their wonderful support of Ponzi Vineyards. So, from the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU & Happy Sipping!
$30/Btl – $324/Case, includes a 10% case discount (normally $35/Btl)
2007 CAMERON VINTAGE RESERVE CHARDONNAY
I know, I know, it sometimes annoys me too when a wine is described as “very Burgundian”. This though, my fellow Oregon wine lovers, is a drop dead stand-in for premier cru white Burgundy. I’ll confess that that was the first thing that came to mind, more specifically Puligny-Montrachet. Sleek lemon, out of this world minerality and wonderful mid-palate creaminess that just doesn’t quit! Only two barrels selected for this ultra rare bottle (one Abbey Ridge and one Clos Electrique barrel). Just a couple restaurants in Portland have this on their wine list, and then there’s the Ponzi Wine Bar as Cameron’s official/unofficial tasting room & retail outlet. Get on this one!
$30/Btl – $324/Case, includes a 10% case discount
2007 J. CHRISTOPHER DUNDEE HILLS PINOT NOIR
J. Christopher owner/winemaker Jay Somers has always done things his way. If it makes sense to him, that’s the path he follows. Never mind if “smarter” business minds say it doesn’t make sense, what matters is that it’s the right thing to do in the J. Christopher universe. The latest “rogue” decision to come out of their camp was to not produce any of the single vineyard, higher end (and priced) bottlings that they’ve become known for. Jay figured that it is better to make one heck of a great blended Pinot then try to move the precious, higher tier stuff. This bottle is simply one of the greatest dollar for dollar deals in Oregon Pinot Noir. It’s drinking really well now, and has the framework to age nicely over the next 6-8 years.
$30/Btl – $324/Case, includes a 10% case discount
