Oregon Wine Concierge- Stellar 2007s

2007 J. Christopher Dundee Hills Pinot Noir

Something incredible has just been offered to us and I wanted to be sure to extend the offer to you. Jay re-released his 2007 Dundee Hills Pinot Noir, which has been officially sold out for over a year. Long story short, his international broker forgot that he had some of this wine stored here in Oregon (pristine, temperature controlled storage) and has moved on to the 2009’s. Jay gladly bought it back and is offering it to one restaurant and us. Here’s what I said at release & my enthusiasm is only amplified now that the wine has more bottle age:

“J. Christopher owner/winemaker Jay Somers has always done things his way. If it makes sense to him, that’s the path he follows. Never mind if “smarter” business minds say it doesn’t make sense; what matters is that it’s the right thing to do in the J. Christopher universe. The latest “rogue” decision to come out of Jay’s camp was to not produce any of the single vineyard, higher end (and priced) bottlings that they’ve become known for. Jay figured that it’s better to make one heck of a great blended Pinot then to try selling the precious, higher tier stuff. This bottle is simply one of the greatest dollar for dollar deals in Oregon Pinot Noir. It’s drinking really well now, and has the framework to age nicely over the next 6-8 years.”

$32/bottle or $345.60/case (includes case discount)

Also available from Jay:
2009 Sandra Adele Pinot Noir
(94 points in Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate) $42/bottle

2009 Le Pavillon Pinot Noir

2007 Carlton Cellars Roads End Pinot Noir
Re-released from the cellar: Roads End is a deft blend of estate fruit as well as vineyards that you may recognize from the Ken Wright line-up. Dave Grooters, the man behind Carlton Cellars & Roads End, has been friends with maestro Wright for some time, providing access to this highly acclaimed fruit. Up through the 2006 vintage, Ken made the Roads End Pinot Noir, making it the only blended wine to come out of his cellar. In 2007, Dave took over the winemaking and he has not skipped a beat. The wines are as good, if not better. Very much in line with most 2007s, given a few years in the bottle, this wine is just starting to hit its stride. Delicious & silky smooth!

Same price as the current release, $45/bottle or $486/case (includes case discount)
