The Goose delivers once again!

One of the first wines that caught my rapt attention as a newcomer to the Oregon wine industry was the Dusky Goose Pinot Noir and it has not failed to keep me anxiously awaiting each new vintage since. Some may be wondering if the robust, richly textured style indicative of this wine was able to hold up its hearty reputation in a vintage well known to be cooler than its previous 2 predecessors. I’m delighted to say that it has held its ground quite impressively. Though the density is slightly lighter than typical, the wine more than makes up for this with the incredible nuance of aromatics and deft layers upon layers of fruit complexity of course delivered on a sea of silky tannins that continue to linger long after the wine has left your mouth. Have you ever marveled at how a flaky, delicate croissant can deliver so much decadent richness? It’s like that but dare I say better! I guess that Pinot Noir is a natural counterpart to butter… who knew? Uh, back to the wine…the sweetness of red and black fruits that Lynn Penner -Ash capably balances with never overbearing structure from French oak barrels is divine. This is truly an Oregon Pinot Noir lover’s wine…complex, well made and intriguing from one sip to the next.
