Michael Stevenson is the winemaker for the renowned Panther Creek Winery in McMinnville. Stevenson-Barrie is his personal project, and he makes miniscule amounts of wine under this label. Of the 2008 Pinot Noirs that we sampled from his portfolio, this was a clear standout! Michael uses very little, if any, new oak allowing the purity of the fruit to shine through. His hallmark style leans towards subtle, earthy and crisp flavors unhampered by his influence as a winemaker.
Freedom Hill Vineyard lies in the foothills of the coast range. In a powerful growing year such as 2008, higher elevation, cooler vineyards produced fruit that from the get-go had balance. We feel that this wine encompasses all the above!
